Branding Gelato Palace

The green and red were clear choices for my brand. These colors represent both the Italian flag and the prickly pear cactus—symbols that reflect the cultural and regional identity of Gelato Palace. The cactus, in particular, represents Arizona, where the business is based, grounding the brand in its local roots.

I chose to place green on the top half and red on the bottom. Since red is bolder and visually heavier than green, this layout created a more balanced and appealing composition. To enhance contrast, I used a darker green for the cactus and a lighter, tinted green for the gelato elements—creating visual clarity while maintaining a cohesive palette.

The typography plays a key role in the personality of the brand. I used Cooper Std Black for the word Gelato—its fun, rounded letterforms echo the softness of gelato and complement the organic shapes of the cactus. For Palace, I used Colonna MT, which pairs well with the Roman column featured at the base of the logo, adding a sense of classical elegance to the design.
